EBG organized an interactive session with Shri Kamal Nath, Minister of Urban Development on Wednesday, 31 July 2013: Mr. Rajiv Dhawan, EBG Delhi Chapter Chairman gave the welcome address and invited Minister Nath to speak on the scope of investment and opportunities in the urban development sector for European companies. Shri Kamal Nath being a proponent of economic development in India outlined India's role in the world market. He said that India is an integral part of the process of globalization. He felt that India needs to adapt and adopt to changes. He agreed that certain measures need immediate implementation like controlling India's fiscal deficit. This is hugely important for the macro management of the economy. He mentioned that India is a vibrant and democracy and has huge opportunities for European companies. He said that efforts are being made to bring about stronger international co-operation in India and for enhancing bilateral relations with European countries. He mentioned that the highest priority of the Government of India is Urban Development. Lack of Urban Development hits you every day. Urban population has increased sizably in India (31% of the population of India). Minister Nath said that India must look at sub-urbanization. Minister Nath outlined the importance of foreign investment and informed about the projects following the PPP models. He also talked about the MOU signed with France, UK and Sweden. He said that there are many opportunities for European companies in India in the Urban Development sector. His brief address was followed by an excellent and impressive interactive and Q&A session moderated by Mr Dhawan which saw execellent participation from EBG fraternity including questions from IKEA (Mr. Jeff Dolin), TETRAPAK (Mr Kandarp Singh), BMR ( MrMukeshButani) , Mr J P Garg (EBG Telecom Sector Chairman) amongst others . EBG thanks this wonderful participation of guests that included Ambassadors, Charge d"affair, Top CEOS and involved Business community at large.
