​Founded as the European Business Group (EBG) in 1997, EBG has come to be recognised by the Indian Government as the industry advocacy group representing the interest of European companies and Indo-European Joint Ventures in India. EBG Federation was established on 11 March 2015 as a Section 8 company under the Companies Act, 2013 to ensure long-term stability and broaden its sphere of activities offering support and advocacy for European businesses in India. ​

The EBG Position Paper (PP) expresses the relevant concerns of European Corporates in carrying on or growing their business in the current environment in India and proposes key policy reforms that will be conducive to the growth of business and what we believe are in the realm of possibility for the Indian Government to put in place. EBG Position Paper is distributed to all key and relevant stakeholders in the Government of India. ​

The annual launch and publication of the Position Paper (PP) is a cornerstone initiative of the EBG Federation, reflecting collective policy advocacy inputs from our member companies. The Position Paper highlights key concerns faced by European corporates operating or expanding in India’s current business landscape, while recommending realistic and actionable policy reforms for the Government of India.
 

The 2025 edition, marked the 23rd consecutive Annual Position Paper, which was released on 19th November and presented insights and recommendations across 17 key sectors: Agrochemicals, Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Automotive, Aviation, Banking, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, CSR & Sustainability, Defense, Digital Transformation, Oil & Gas, Financial Services, FMCG, Medical Devices & Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Power, Railway, and Retail. The Position Paper is shared with key stakeholders across the Government of India to foster an enabling environment for European, American and British businesses  to thrive and contribute to India’s growth story.
